Here’s a name you didn’t necessarily expect to hear attached to new
music in 2015: Hurricane Chris. And yet, here we are—amid a wave of
comebacks, the “A Bay Bay” rapper wants to get in on the fun with the
release of the DJ Mustard-produced “Sections” off his upcoming mixtape
Hurricane Season. Like everything else this year, it features Ty Dolla $ign, lacing the hook with his perfectly syrup-sweet voice.
For his part, Chris sounds just as captivating as he did back in
2007, if a bit more mature. He has a sneering, dynamic voice, and
sounds perfectly comfortable rapping about the club in a modern context.
Maybe he has his shoes on this time, though.
